Scientists React to Disclosure Push – Loeb Says Classified Data May Hold Real Clues

The scientific community weighed in on Trump’s directive. Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb wrote that “only mediocre scientists are dogmatic about UAP” and noted that classified data – including possible high-resolution satellite imagery and materials from alleged crash sites – could contain analyzable evidence. Purdue astrobiologist Ben Pearce said he “really wants to see this data” as a scientist needs data to understand what’s occurring. NASA reaffirmed its “open science commitment” but noted it holds no files confirming extraterrestrial beings. Source · Source

ODNI Announces: UAP Files Coming “Soon”

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence posted on X that files related to “alien and extraterrestrial life, UAPs, and UFOs” would be released “soon.” The statement referenced half a million documents already declassified in Trump’s first year in office – including records related to the JFK, RFK, and MLK assassinations. Hegseth later said the Pentagon would “work with the DNI, as we always do” and noted his support for Director Tulsi Gabbard’s efforts. Source

Transparency Community Reacts With Hope – and Caution

Disclosure advocates responded to Trump’s announcement with measured optimism. Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Christopher Mellon called it a potentially “consequential moment” but warned that “the impact will depend on the follow-through.” He pointed out that AARO has already failed to deliver two congressionally mandated reports – the Historical Record Report Volume II and the 2025 Annual Report – and that the public’s trust “has been eroded and must be restored.” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said declassified records would be posted on the National Archives website. Source

Trump Orders Pentagon to Release UFO, Alien, and UAP Files

President Trump announced via Truth Social that he is directing the Pentagon and other federal agencies to “begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).” He cited “tremendous interest” from the public. The announcement came hours after Trump accused former President Obama of disclosing classified information – a reference to Obama’s viral podcast remark the previous week in which he said aliens are “real.” Trump told reporters he “may get him out of trouble by declassifying” and that he personally doesn’t know if aliens are real. No specific timeline or scope was set. Source · Source

Fresh Sightings Logged Across Multiple States and the UK

MUFON received multiple new UAP reports in mid-February 2026, including descriptions of flashing objects over Florida, pulsating orbs in South Carolina and Tennessee, and unusual light formations in the United Kingdom. Separately, the American Meteor Society documented over 1,250 fireball reports for the month, with notable events in North Carolina, California, Missouri, Russia, and Alabama. Wisconsin’s 2025 spike – a 48% increase in reports including black triangles over Manitowoc County – continued to draw attention. Source · Source
